Job Description
Front Range Staffing is seeking a Purchasing Assistant with 2+ years’ experience working in Manufacturing, Plumbing or the Metal Parts Industry. Pay starts at $21- $23hr, depending on experience. Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of materials forecasting, inventory management, and procurement, with a focus on metal alloys, plastics, and plumbing fittings. Key Responsibilities:
Materials Management: Forecast and order materials to maintain sufficient inventory levels for production and distribution, including metal alloys, aluminum, stainless steel, bolts, plastics, and plumbing fittings.
Inventory Oversight: Monitor stock status to identify material needs and discrepancies, manage inventory processes including re-supply orders, rotation, claims, and accuracy.
Forecasting and Ordering: Submit monthly forecasts to optimize stock levels, place periodic replenishment orders for hardware and finished goods, and manage transfer orders between branches.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate inventory records, including logs, posted transactions, and internal reports. Identify and correct discrepancies, manage slow-moving inventory, and analyze aged reports to improve inventory turnover.
Cost Management: Assist in margin error reviews and develop pricing models by providing accurate cost data as needed.
Reporting: Provide weekly updates to branches on material shortages and inbound orders by item number.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance processes in production, warehousing, packaging, and shipping.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with management and team members to complete assignments beyond the scope of this role as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in forecasting, purchasing, and supply chain management.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of inventory audit practices (cycle counts, physical inventories, ledger reconciliation), exceptional mathematical skills, and knowledge of statistical analysis techniques. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with MRP/ERP systems.
Education: Associate’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong problem-solving aptitude.
